Well hello again. Didn't think I would be seeing you this soon but I need to write down some information and though this might be a good place to do it.

We just made an order for some more Arkham House along with a few Fedogan and Bremer books since Arkham House is the distributor of those here in the US. We ran into a little problem on some of the books. The Arkham House Miscellaneous Writings is in short supply and since Arkham starts selling only to 'individuals' at full list price when they get down to only a few copies, we could only get one for our customer who already had one on order. If you want a copy or think you might want a copy it might be a good idea to order one -sorry we are out right now so you can't get the 10% discount as a repeat customer, but you might check Arkham directly Miscellaneous Writings.

And speaking about not available to dealers, you might want to check out In Lovecraft's Shadow: The Cthulhu Mythos Stories of August Derleth. This classic book from Arkham House is available again but not for resellers. The First edition is listed as high as several hundred dollars while the one available from Arkham House is listed at $75.

The other bit of news is that it may be some time before more of the Fedogan and Bremer books are available for order from Arkham House. This can be seen in part by the low price of about $68 for Weird Shadows over Innsmouth on Amazon. The list price is about $35 and, assuming Fedogan & Bremmer get their stuff together, they will be available new for around that again.

Well Haloscan is going down. That was the free service for leaving comments I was using on the Ramblings page on site. Not that it got used much, but I did get a couple of comments:

  • Question: I have a 1952 edition of the old man in the sea. It has the colophone on the copyright page but no letter"A" or any other letter or number combination. What does that mean?

Answer: Typically, it just means that it is a later edition. For more information on the 1st Edition, you could look at Old Man In The Sea, First Edition Book Detail

  • Question: Enjoy your Ramblings but why don't you be more consistent in posting?

Answer: Thanks, glad you enjoy the postings. No real reason for the inconsistency except it just seems like time passes so quickly except when I'm waiting in line. Hmmm, should I get a laptop?

Since Haloscan is going away, maybe I'll look for another but I doubt it. Don't get enough comments to make it worth while. At least here, the capability to comment is built in. Also, I've quit posting on the Rambling page and will be posting here if I feel like I just have to write something - which I do every once in a great while.

Until that time - DW
